A Visit to the Fire Station

On Wednesday of last week we went to visit the firefighters that came to our house the night Haven had her seizure. Jake made them a card that showed their fire truck in front of our house. I wish that I had taken a picture of it for all to see. We also took them some yummy goodies from Paradise Bakery. The guys there that night were not the ones that came to our house but it was still nice to talk with them. They were so nice. As soon as we walked in the asked Jake if he had been to a fire department before and if he wanted to go on a tour. He said yes of course and they showed him EVERYTHING. He got to go in the trucks, hold an axe, see all the switches, radios etc. They even hooked up the fire hose and let him blast it for a few minutes. Actually, after a few minutes Jake said that he could no longer hold it, it was to heavy. He had a great time and we really appreciate how great they were with the kiddos. Enjoy a few pics from the Fire Station.

Another Haven Update

Haven went to the neurologist on Thursday afternoon. He said that he thinks that she had a Febrile Seizure. This is a seizure brought on by a fever or just by being sick. He was not able to tell us if she would ever have one again but he did teach us something to do if it were to happen. We pray that it will not. This week has been good for Haven. I think as of yesterday she has no more signs of being sick and is eating all the time. She is starting to sleep better but still not as good as she was. I think it is going to be hard for me to train her again. I am still scared that little thing might cause a seizure. I can not help but to think this way. I just do not want her to have another one. Each day is getting better for me. I do follow her around everywhere and still baby her. But I am working on that. Jake is great. He can talk about it freely but I think he is getting sick of everyone talking about it. It has been hard on him with how much attention that Haven is getting and not him. So Regan and are going to have to work on that. This week will be nice because now I feel like we will be able to leave the house. Jake has just been to bored sitting around the house all day. Anyways, that is about it for now. Thank you so much for all the nice thoughts, comments, and prayers that we received. It is so nice to know that we have such a great group of firends and support all over.

Haven Update

We took Haven to her pediatrician on Monday morning to have him look her over after Friday nights "event". He said that she looked great but recommended we take her to Phoenix Children's Hospital for their expert opinion because it was not a fibural siezure. We have learned that fibural siezures are very common in children her age and would not be a concern. Unfortunately this was not what Haven had so that is where the "fear of the unknown" comes into play. The good news is that we have an appointment with them on Thursday at 2pm. We are anxious to get in their and meet with them to see if they will want to do further tests and put our minds at ease a little bit. We have been following Haven around EVERYWHERE scared that she may have another siezure. Again, we appreciate your prayers and support for Haven and our family. We will update after our appointment tomorrow.
